Cofounders Sergio and Juan had worked together for years. Sergio married into a family from Oaxaca and often joked with Juan about starting a mezcal business some day.

 

The joke became a hobby which quickly became an obsession. They ventured into the heart of Oaxaca, across rivers, mountains and even into caves, searching for the finest mezcal.

They were blown away by what they discovered: A rich tapestry of traditions, flavours and aromas and what are possibly the finest spirits on the planet.

They now share Mexico's best kept secrets with an audience that values tradition, craftsmanship and environmental stewardship. Besalunas aims to celebrate and conserve the natural and cultural wealth of Mexico.
